The special origin of our trolley oak wood housing
Wine and whiskey barrels are small, handcrafted works of art, just like our lovingly handcrafted Skypak trolleys. The uniqueness of these barrels lives on here. There are many factors that make this wood so special and valuable. The whiskey and wine are aged in the oak barrels for years, absorbing many aromas that shape their final taste. Aging takes place over many years in barrels of various origins.
Although more and more machines are being used in the production of barrels, the actual manufacturing process remains in human hands.

The planks for the staves cannot be cut from a single tree trunk like rectangular lumber used for construction. It's important to pay attention to the wood grain when cutting the staves. Otherwise, the alcohol will evaporate or cause a leak. Only oak is suitable for production, so that the barrels' breathing is not impeded. Furthermore, other types of wood give off an unpleasant aroma. The logs used should be 70 to 200 years old.
The wood only comes to life through heat treatment. Heating it in a kiln breaks down the wood structure, allowing the barrel to mature and come to life. The barrel is burned from within, activating the wood. This means the flavor is activated by the heat.
All of this contributes to the individual look of our Skypak trolleys . Each one is unique due to the different barrels, as each barrel looks different and has a different origin.
